I thought it was so permitting to use a red rose since Valentines Day is tomorrow, but I would like to reference my time here at George Mason to the opening of the rose. I have definitely had a hard time starting college, but within the first three weeks of this second semester I have been opening up and having the best time of my life. I really have enjoyed Mason so much more now that I have engaged with other people like me. I love how close I’ve become with my hall and they have been nothing but supportive as I slowly open up. As much as I keep my feeling hidden and act like I have it all together, there has been a lot of stress and depression that I have had to face. Usually I just stay in my room and try not to worry anyone else with my problems but actually coming out and making friends has been the best thing I’ve ever done. I feel just like that flower opening in the video. To my surprise it actually mades living on campus so much more enjoyable when you have people that care about you. So shout-out to the two best LLC’s Leadership/Community Engagement and Sustainability, I so happy to be apart of an amazing group of people and I look forward to the rest of this semester with you guys!

Keilah, I really like how you related opening up to people to the opening up of a rose. Both are beautiful things. I am so glad that you are a part of the awesome community that is Piedmont 2nd. Even though we may not all be going through the same things, I think we are all respectuful of others feelings and I have also found comfort in knowing that after dealing with a difficult time I can walk down the hall and see all the smiling faces of those of the floor and know that they are there to cheer me up and just simply talk. I am super excited to see where the rest of this semester takes everyone in terms or growth and oppurtunity.Oh and me and the rest of the floor are super excited to come and watch you play field hockey.

Keilah you are alright. I hope you had a good Valentine’s Day.
‘We don’t see the world as it is, we see it as we are!’
Valentine’s Day passed me by as any normal day :). I didn’t even realize what day it was until I saw a sign by the JC at around 4:30 PM that said ‘Happy Valentine’s Day!’ and there were people out in the square giving out free hugs!
‘Give up defining yourself – to yourself or to others. You won’t die. You will come to life’
All you are is a 19 year old girl – that is a fact. This is the beginning of your life, there are so many more things to discover in the world. You don’t have to fit in the media’s or Hollywood’s viewpoint on how a 19 year old girl should live their life. ‘philosophy is critical thought!’ think about the endless possibilities life holds.
‘You don’t have to suffer if you choose not to!’
Loneliness is something that everyone has – even looking at people who seem to have it all – still might suffer from loneliness every now and then. Thousands of years ago, being alone meant you were dead! If you did not belong to a tribe, you are dead! That is why this instinct of being together with other people has built up – it’s our natural instinct.
Once you realize that, you learn that in turn, everyone in the world is alone. ‘No one is immune to loneliness as no one is immune to death!’
